More Mr. Nice Guy

There is a brand new album almost ready to be born! The band has done the vast majority of the work necessary to release their next studio album, tentatively titled, More Mr. Nice Guy. This is the album that will first feature Sean Rickman on the drums, and his contributions will also be felt on vocals and in some song writing duties. Songs will include material that has been road tested including the cuts Witch Doctor, Friends Say, and Chester the Pester.

Garaj Mahal December and January Shows!

UPCOMING GARAJ MAHAL TOURS

There are two tours coming up! In mid December the band will be doing a run from the upper Midwest down throughout the Rust belt, and into the northern reaches of the swampy south. Of particular note are returns to markets like Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago and Cincinnati, while hitting new rooms and old friends in Fayetteville AR, St Louis MO, and Lexington, KY.

Of course the traditions of the holiday season are to be continued for Garaj Mahal, as the late December run will include mostly West Coast stops- some old, some new. The tour will premier in Seattle WA on December 30th and will head north for a New Year's eve blast with our friends Five Alarm Funk in Vancouver, BC at the Vogue Theater with our friends from Upstream Entertainment. Stops in Bellingham, Portland and Tacoma will ring in the new year, and then a quick run down I-5 with a stop in Applegate OR, then Eureka, CA before the wild card. Are you ready? Jan 8 and 9 are the first ever appearances by Garaj Mahal in Alaska! Hey, I can see Wasilla from here! Come to the Alyeska resort and thaw your winter chill. Finally, January 11th is the annual Yoshi's celebration. Now that is a traditional holiday Garaj Mahal West Coast Run!

ALL MUSIC

"Garaj Mahal's sixth CD has them continuing to explore contemporary jazz fusion with an Eastern undercurrent, a funky base, and fluid dynamics."
~ allmusic.com

JAMBANDS

"This is music that attracts both musicians and dancefloor denizens -- complex and inventive at its core, with a "shut up and listen" booty-moving exterior."
~ Matt Brockett, Jambands

MUSIC MARAUDERS

"Don’t miss the premiere jam fusion group on the planet; kicking off on a run throughout the west coast, hitting a number of festivals, clubs, and concert halls before grooving on over to the east coast, there are many chances to see these masters express their craft."
~ Alex Pryor, Music Marauders

HIDDEN TRACK

"Before I knew it, their second set ended. I checked my watch and could not believe the amount of time that had elapsed. Like Garaj Mahal's music, time seemed to flow one moment into the other, smoothly blending as the night bled off into early morning."
~ A.J. Crandall, HiddenTrack

BC MUSIC

"If you decide to take the trip that Garaj Mahal will be offering on their forthcoming release, wOOt , you'll find that not only are you in good hands, but you're going to have a lot of fun. Not only do they play sublimely, they haven't forgotten what it means to play."
~ Richard Marcus, BC Music

AUDIOFILE

"Haque frames the world-jazz/fusion textures with an incredible variety of guitar stylings, guiding the group into musical directions that perfectly reveal the heart of the compositions' intentions."
~ Jan P. Dennis, Audiofile Audition

DOWNBEAT

"Spacey, art-rock chord progessions and clipped funk jams abound on Garaj Mahal's third studio effort, a pleasantly strange combination of influences that aims to challenge assumptions about jam bands the way Weather Report challenged assumptions about fusion. It often succeeds."
~ Jennifer Odell, DownBeat Review

JAMBANDS.CA
"...Fareed defines the genre for us, referring to Garaj Mahal as “Jance” music; a blending jazz of and dance."
~ Todd Snelgrove, Jambands.ca
